You’re NOT doing usability testing? Are you…nuts?
Anyone who’s ever done—or even just observed–usability testing can tell you that it’s one of the most effective ways to ensure that whatever you’re building is as good as it can be–whether it’s a web site, a mobile app, a smart watch, or anything else that people need to interact with.
But even now with so much emphasis on UX, most of the products we end up using still don’t get the benefit of usability testing, because people think it’s got to be complicated, costly, and time-consuming.
In 90 minutes, Steve Krug will show you how you can make usability testing part of every project with a minimum of effort, using the lean method he described in his second book, Rocket Surgery Made Easy. The session will even include a live usability test so you can see just how simple it can be.
You’ll find this session useful…
- If you already do testing and want to do more
- If you’ve never done testing and want to start
- And even if you’re never going to do testing yourself but are responsible for hiring, managing, or paying other people to do it.
The session is intended for everyone involved in building a product, from designers, programmers, and writers to product managers, stakeholders, and VPs (and even seasoned UX professionals).
Speaker: Steve Krug
Steve Krug (pronounced “kroog”) is best known as the author of Don’t Make Me Think: A Common Sense Approach to Web Usability (also known as “almost everybody’s introduction to UX”), now in its third edition with over 500,000 copies in print. He followed it up with the usability testing handbook Rocket Surgery Made Easy: The Do-It-Yourself Guide to Finding and Fixing Usability Problems. He’s spent 25+ years as a usability consultant for a wide variety of clients, and enjoys teaching in-house workshops showing teams how to do their own usability testing. He’s currently working on a new book about how to make writing easier—for the writer and the reader.
